Morning all
Believe it or not we are half way through the season so it's time for a little catch up.
After a slow start, the 1st XI have found form and are now in contention for the league title. This Saturday sees a crunch tie against league leaders Nazeing Common, surely a must win game. Please come along and support the lads. It's also great to see the return of Charlie Bass, back from his adventures for a while at least!
After a few years absence I'm delighted to report that Sunday friendly cricket is making a come back! It's a great way for the club to introduce our older juniors to adult cricket. We've already had a number of very enjoyable Sunday games with more to come. It's even prompted the return to cricket of Mark Iliffe and it's great to see him and his boys enjoying the delights of The Green. Surely Sara's FREE CREAM TEAS for visitors on Sundays has had nothing to do with that?!! Hopefully we'll get some more 'ex' players out of 'retirement' for a social game soon.
The Junior teams have been playing regularly and enjoying some success. The under 11 team are gaining invaluable experience and learning about match play. The under 15 team have been very successful and have beaten all the major clubs in their league this year. They've also reached the u15 district cup final! There have been some great performances especially from Ollie Hutley (5 wickets in a match including a hat trick!!) and some great batting from Will C-S and Olly Hartnell. It's wonderful to see many of the boys enjoying a junior game in the morning and following it up with a senior game in the afternoon!! A special thanks must go to our Chairman Simon who has been tireless in his efforts to ensure this all happens.
This Sunday is the Matching Green Classic and Sports Car Club Show. Not only is the show well worth a visit, it's also the club's biggest fundraiser of the year! We are once again running both the bar and the barbecue. We need you help please! If you can spare a hour or two, please come along and help us sell burgers and beer to the masses.'! We'll need most help on Sunday between 12 noon and 3pm so please make the effort to come along. Help would also be appreciated both earlier and later for the clear-up as well as Saturday from around noon when we'll be preparing for the event.
