Dear Members, parents, children and friends
These are clearly unprecedented times we live in at the moment and your committee met briefly this evening to discuss our response to the threat of Coronavirus to our members and friends. The recent developments have seen drastic action taken by sporting governing bodies, under guidance from the government, including the FA, England Rugby and England Hockey. We expect the ECB to follow suit in the next day or two.
The committee have therefore decided, for the safety of our members and friends, to suspend all cricket activity and close the pavilion until further notice. That means no nets; no pre-season practice; no Junior coaching; and the likelihood of matches in April/May and even June remains extremely unlikely, even beyond that. Also our planned Emergency First Aid Course has been cancelled and our first major fund-raiser, the D-Day festival must be severely in doubt.
Rest assured, the committee will continue their hard work to ensure that, once we do get the all-clear, we will be ready to spring into action. We will update this information as soon as more is known.
It remains for us to wish everyone well and to please stay safe by heeding the government advise.
