Matching Green Cricket Club Matching Green 1st XI v Rickling Ramblers on Tue 11 Aug 2020 at 6pm
Matching Green Cricket Club Won by 26 runs

Match reportA superb opening partnership between skipper Riz Akram and Dan Sibley set up a solid 161 in the allocated 16 overs. The Rickling bowlers found a good length just sort of a length and A. Emsden bowled particularly well from the top end. It as ice to see ex Stansted Stansted Josh Monk on the Green but he finished with 43 taken from his 4 overs. George Templeman took the only wicket to fall to a bowler, bowling Riz Akram for a fine 76. Dan Sibley (46) was run out in the last over trying to pinch an extra run.
161 seemed a reasonable score but probably 20 below what Matching had looked like getting after a fast start.
Rickling Ramblers innings got off to a poor start with P. Ensden and B. Phillips falling cheaply. After bowling well, A. Endsen (25) continued to impress as he rebuilt the innings and he was ably assisting by big hitting Josh Monk (46) to just fell short of a quick-fire 50. After a tight opening spell, the reintroduction of Matty Taylor was too much for the Rickling chase as he finished with a fine 5 wicket haul for just 16 runs in his 4 overs.
Rickling's inning reached an abrupt end as Taylor claimed 3 wickets in the last over of the game.
A hard fought victory for Matching Green sees them progress to this year's semi-final of the Boardman's Davies Cup.
