Matching Green Cricket Club News story

Neighbourhood Watch for our community

04 Mar 2022

Hi all

Many, I'm sure will have had an email from Tracey Graham, our excellent Neighbourhood Watch Co-ordinator, who has decided to step down after serving for over 10 years. On behalf of the club, I have thanked Tracey for her excellent work and commitment to this vital role.

I'm appealing to our members to see if anyone can either fill, or partially fill her role. Here's Tracey's message to explain...

After many years leading the NHW group in our areas, I have taken the decision to step down from my roles in our villages, on Epping Forest NHW committee and representative for EFD at Essex District meetings. It has been a very interesting and challenging role over the last ten or so years, and I have met some wonderful, fascinating and supportive people along the way. The Police officers, Epping Forest Council staff, and the Fire service have been incredibly supportive of NHW and not least of all, my colleagues, on Epping Forest and Essex NHW who dedicate all of their time to making our communities a safer place.

I am not sure if you know, but I have been the sole coordinator for some years now covering Matching, Sheering, The Lavers, Bobbingworth, Bovinger and Moreton. Moreton has now taken off extremely well under the new guidance of Michelle, and she has now joined the Epping Forest team and is very dedicated. I mention this, as the role is quite a large one, for one person and I suggest that you consider taking up a smaller role in your lane, village, street, hamlet or road? together many of you can be more effective in the continued NHW presence and be informed by the relevant authorities with whom I have worked with for so long.

Finally, the biggest thanks must go to all of our members who have encouraged me, helped me and supported me over the years from my very first member, right through to now.

My last request is for you to really consider becoming a NHW coordinator for your road, street, lane or village. It requires you to gather and share information given to you by EFDNHW
which comes from an authentic source. You will be given support and advice for your role which you could become as involved with as much as you so wish.

Neighbourhood watch is an incredibly informative, supportive and authentic group with excellent links with the emergency services, Age Uk , crimestoppers and beyond. Please do not let the flavour of local news disappear from your village, as it has been a huge task to get it to where it is today. You will still receive emails, but they will be aimed at Epping Forest in general unless a local coordinator/s can be found to make it more targeted to your community. It has been proven over the years, that the quicker information is gathered, and relayed, the quicker we have had results in real time and that is the power of the community.

Please contact:
efdnwatch@hotmail.co.uk  for information on how to become a local coordinator, maybe a few of you can get together and network to share information and form an effective team?
The committee at epping forest will be more than happy to explain any questions, Go on....... give it a go!
