A NEW CLUB RECORD !!! Matching lost the toss and were shocked that they were put in to bat on a wicket that resembled the M1 ....Matching opened with Graeme Bowerman and James Malyon and after 10 overs were still there with the score on 69 ....Bowerman was first man out after the introduction of A DAR bowling off spin for a well made 38 Dar soon removed Malyon for a classy 45 with the score on 115-2 off just 18 overs. Tom Figg and Dan SIbley then set about the Hockerill bowling putting on 143 in just 14 overs. When Sibley went for a swash buckling 74, FIgg continued until finally out for a classy 100 exactly. SImon Wasley then smashed 31 off 15 balls and Jonny Taylor 17 not out off 10 balls ...with 51 extras Matching had beaten their highest ever score in amassing 383-7 off their 45 overs with skipper Tom Brady 2-70 and A Dar 5-74 the only wicket takers ...we think this is also the highest score ever in Division 1 of HECL. Hockerill set about their task well and Rob Sanders and A Jagdeo hit numerous boundaries before Simon Wasley removed them both caught behind. After 10 overs they had been ahead of the game but the introduction of left arm spinner Simon Hartnell and Paul Dawson put the brake on matters and with Hartnell 4-55 and Dawson 3-36 that was the end of proceedings with Hockerill all out for 234 149 runs adrift ...Wasley finished with 2-29 and Sanders 72 Jagdeo 53 and Jack Palfreman 39 the pick of the Hockerill batsman. With Ilford Catholics 1st XI losing away at Nazeing 1st XI it puts Matching Green clear at the top of division one with an important game away match at Ilford Catholics next Saturday.
