Matching for the fourth week running won the toss and had no hesitation putting in Birchanger with the conditions overcast.
With Charlie Bass at a wedding Jason Green opened the bowling with Jonny Taylor.
The first wicket came in a strange manner , Justin Bass the opening bat for Birchanger dropped his hands on a delivery and it dropped on the leg side , Dan Sibley reacted very quickly and ran him out brilliantly for 1.
This seemed to increase Matchings focus even more and Taylor then removed the Birchanger skipper Ben White caught for 0.
The normally reliable Elliot Sellears came to the crease and looked solid , however , Green bowled a nice inswinger and Sellears was out LBW for 0.
Birchanger were reeling at 3-3.
This left Jack Squires and Paul Parker to try and rebuild the Birchanger innings .
Squires took on Green and despatched him for a number of boundaries including a couple of lovely 6’s.
Green was working hard and eventually Squires nicked a hard drive to slip …Paul Dawson caught it and then it jumped out then parried it to Lees who took an amazing catch to remove Squires for a powerful 28.
Simon Hartnell and Paul Dawson were then introduced to the attack and with the ball swinging nicely the brake was put on the Birchanger innings once more.
In their 20 overs 7 maidens were bowled 4 by Dawson and 3 by Hartnell.
Dawson ended on 3-18 off his 10 overs but once again the pressure at both ends told .
Simon Wasley was introduced to the attack and he bowled with much power and strength taking 2-13 , which included a stunning one handed catch by Dawson (ha ha probably the last one ever !! so had to get it in).
It was good to see Wasleyy back in action as he had a career threatening ACL only 2 years ago.
Lol Ahmed produced a typically good knock down the order and ended up with 25 before being removed by the unerring Jason Green , Green taking 3-45 off his 9.1 overs .
Ross Leavers also batted well for 28 and J . Crowe a battling 22.
Birchanger were eventually all out for 132 after just 32.1 overs .
James Malyon was back from University and he opened the batting with Graeme Bowerman , neither lasted long as Davis and Griffiths bowled well for Birchanger .
Tom Figg came to the wicket and again looked like his old form was returning as he batted beautifully for a very classy and at times exquisite 45 not out .
Dan Sibley joined him and the pair put on 49 at more than a run a ball before Sibley tried one shot too many and was caught on the boundary for 34 .
Matching passed their target with 5 wickets down after just 26.2 overs, with Griffiths the pick of the Birchanger bowling taking 3-37 off his 9 overs .
With Nazeing losing to Stansted only Matching and Ilford Catholics have won their first 4 games .
Matching are away at Hockerill twice this week , once in the League Cup on Tuesday night and again next Saturday in the League.
