Potter Street II v Matching Green Cricket Club Matching Green 2nd XI on Sat 14 May 2011 at 1:30pm
Matching Green Cricket Club Won by 262 runs
Match report
An under-strength Potter Street 2nd XI asked MGCC to bat first The pitch looked very dry and hard and the outfield very quick. After a steady start Steve Byford made 34 before falling plumb LBW. An excellent partnership between Muggsy and Seabass making their first appearance of the season saw the rate increase and soon we were scoring at over 6 an over. Both batsmen forgot their wallets and got themselves out before reaching their half centuries. Peter Liversidge got off the mark with a huge six over extra cover and then shortly after mishit a full toss and was caught for 16. Steve Parker then showed some of his batting talent with a good 43 (another jug avoidance). He was well supported by James Roos with 18. 287 looked a good score, even with the fast outfield.
So it proved. The extra pace of JT and the guile of Willy proved far too much for the Potter Street batsman. A fearsome JT took 5 quick wickets and Willy 2 to consign Potter Street to a rather humiliating defeat by 262 runs. The Potter Street cause was not helped by one player not batting as he had to go to work, two players not turning up at all and Billy Wheatley (number 3 bat) going to hospital for 5 stitches in a chin wound after being struck by a rising ball from JT and falling on his wicket.
Man of the Match Jon Taylor.
