Three Caps v Matching Green Cricket Club Matching Green 2nd XI on Sat 04 Jun 2011 at 1:30pm
Matching Green Cricket Club Lost by 19 runs
Match report
In their top of the table run chase at Three Caps the 2nd XI fell just 19 runs of their target.
Batting first, Three CAps struggled against the pace of JT and the steady and accurate Willy. Although expensive, JT removed three of the top four batsmen before fatigue in the heat and wind took over. Willy completed his 10 overs for a miserly 29 runs and was unfortunate not to take a wicket. Excellent back up bowling from Joe Scanlon and off spinner James Malyon kept the pressure on the batsman and only a lucky 76 from open Kumar allowed Three Caps a reasonable score. Kumar was dropped on at least six occasions!
In reply, Steve Byford and James Malyon got us off to a steady start putting on 48 for the first wicket. The base was surely enough to build the victory. Both James and Jed Scanlon batted sensibly until inexplicitly getting out to poor deliveries. A hard hitting 38 from Steve Parker was the only real resistence as the tailenders all fell cheaply. A disappointing end to a game we should have secured with ease.
